Temper, Temper

This is a difficult post for me to write. Mainly because I was not the hero of this story, I was the villain. Yet each story has a lesson, and I’m trying to pin down what the particular lesson is in this story. The story begins in the picturesque setting of Gatlinburg, TN, on aContinue reading “Temper, Temper”

Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics

Mark Twain was quoted as saying, “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.” In today’s world of social media, these words are truer than ever. In the wake of the assassination of Charlie Kirk, people took to social media to start spinning their narrative, because we have long since lost actualContinue reading “Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics”

Disappointment, and Then…

As I approach my 61st birthday, I reflect on life’s ups and downs, particularly my team’s recent Europa League loss. Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat by Tottenham was disappointing, highlighting their poor season. However, after watching Bluey with my family, I found solace. The next day, I learned the Indiana Pacers triumphed in overtime, reminding me that life’s balance often prevails.

Turning the Corner

After four weeks post-surgery, I’m noticing improvement as I’ve resumed walking and cooking despite some lingering restrictions. My surgical follow-up is rescheduled for a week later, adding to my eagerness to recover fully. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s thrilling comeback in their Europa League match against Lyon, culminating in a historic last-minute goal from Harry Maguire, has lifted my spirits significantly.

HAWAI’I INSIGHTS 6-9-24

Robin and I have been back from Hawai’i for over a week. Time enough to look back on everything that we did and come to a conclusion. I conclude we had an awesome time! On Friday, May 24, we drove to the north of Oahu again. Our destination was the Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC), inContinue reading “HAWAI’I INSIGHTS 6-9-24”

MEMORIAL DAY 5-27-24

Today is always a subdued day for me. Veterans Day, in November, honors all those who have served. Memorial Day honors those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Last week Robin and I went to Pearl Harbor for the day. I’ll describe our day there, as well as our visit today to the National Memorial CemeteryContinue reading “MEMORIAL DAY 5-27-24”

PELE-GODDESS OF CREATION AND DESTRUCTION 5-20-24

Monday was a great day. One of the main things I wanted to do while in Hawai’i was visit Volcano National Park. This is located on the Big Island, Hawai’i. Robin and I set up a guided tour with Aloha Sunshine Tours. The package we got paid for the flight from Oahu to Kona InternationalContinue reading “PELE-GODDESS OF CREATION AND DESTRUCTION 5-20-24”
