Temper, Temper

This is a difficult post for me to write. Mainly because I was not the hero of this story, I was the villain. Yet each story has a lesson, and I’m trying to pin down what the particular lesson is in this story. The story begins in the picturesque setting of Gatlinburg, TN, on aContinue reading “Temper, Temper”

Disappointment, and Then…

As I approach my 61st birthday, I reflect on life’s ups and downs, particularly my team’s recent Europa League loss. Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat by Tottenham was disappointing, highlighting their poor season. However, after watching Bluey with my family, I found solace. The next day, I learned the Indiana Pacers triumphed in overtime, reminding me that life’s balance often prevails.

Waikiki – 5-17-24

Robin and I woke up Friday feeling much better for the rest. We went to a coffee shop on the ground floor of Waikiki Banyan. Robin got her usual iced vanilla coffee, I got my usual mocha. Over our breakfast sandwiches, I told her about a dream I’d had involving hitting an annoying person withContinue reading “Waikiki – 5-17-24”

MEDITATIONS-ALL SET

Today is our last day at home. Robin and I will have to get up very early tomorrow to go to Indianapolis International Airport. Our first leg is coach, it’s a short trip from Indy to Detroit Metro Wayne County Airport. As it is, I stare at them intently as they pass, prepared to defend my lawn with deadly force if they try to trespass. I’veContinue reading “JUDGING A BOOK BY ITS COVER-3/3/24”

MEDITATIONS-SOLITUDE, PART DEUX 2/5/24

It’s been less than a week since my last blog. I would like to post an update. I am over my solitude. I am so over it. My feet hurt, which is hard to do when I can’t feel anything below my knees. My right knee, which I twinged in the Pisgah National Forest, has settled into anContinue reading “MEDITATIONS-SOLITUDE, PART DEUX 2/5/24”

MEDITATIONS-SOLITUDE 1/30/24

I have been in Charlotte, North Carolina for three weeks. I’ll be here for three more before I can go home. That’s a lot of solitude. It’s not been so bad. When I was younger, I hated to be alone. I would rather chew my arm off rather than be alone for an extended period of time. It ledContinue reading “MEDITATIONS-SOLITUDE 1/30/24”

WEDDED BLISS

Saturday, June 24, 2023, my wife and I will celebrate 34 years of wedded bliss. What does wedded bliss mean? I get the ‘wedded’ part, I even get the ‘bliss’ part, but when put together, the meaning gets a little fuzzy. Was it bliss when I felt like I was going to throw up gettingContinue reading “WEDDED BLISS”
